There are three standard widths; 6’0″, 6’6″ and 7’0″ dock levelers. The 6’0″ width is the most common, however with wider trucks the change is to 6’6″ wide and 7’0″ wide dock levelers, to accomadate wider loads. The 6’0″ and 6’6″ wide dock levelers come standard with a straigt lip, while the 7’0″ wide dock levelers typically have a taper lip to 6’6″ wide. Since these dock levelers don’t require a power source and are the least expensive of the levelers, they’re the best option for those on a budget. However, operating mechanical dock levelers is a slow process and requires an extensive amount of maintenance.
